The Greene County Rams won both varsity hoops games in Saydel north of Des Moines Thursday evening.
The girls topped the Eagles 52-45 after trailing most of the first half. With just 18 seconds remaining in the game the Rams held a 48-45 lead. Sophomore Kassie Lamoureux made two free throws and senior Laurin Lyons made two free throws in the last second of the game for the final margin.
Seniors Onica Delp and Samantha Hardaway scored 13 points each, with Lyons right behind at 12. Sophomore Bailey Cunningham made 10 points.
The girls are 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference.
The boys claimed a convincing 65-39 win after leading the entire game. The score after one quarter was 17-5, but the host Eagles shortened the gap to 10 points, 28-18 at halftime. The Rams scored 17 unanswered points in the third quarter to seal a victory.
Senior Wade Adcock, who was very strong in the season opener last Friday, scored 23 points, a career high, on 11 of 13 shooting. Senior Joe Towers added 15 points and sophomore Carter Morton had 10 points. All 10 seniors of the roster and three underclassman saw playing time in the game.
The boys are 2-0 overall and in the HOIAC.
The Rams host PCM for a Mega Night Friday. Play begins at 4:30 at the middle school gym and the Greene County Community Center, with the girls varsity at 6 and the boys varsity at 7:30, both at the middle school.
